Melbourne born and raised, a country girl at heart, Shona McCoy is a Scottish-Australian pop artist with a hip-hop/rap influence. Growing up in a home where her mother listened to 50's and 60’s rock’n’roll and her father played percussion, Shona fell in love with music at a young age.
“I loved the radio and I loved pop music. I heard rap music for the first time when my cousin played the Dangerous Minds soundtrack. Instantly mesmerised by this style of music, I wanted to learn to rap.”
Shona commenced professional vocal coaching, combined with her love of writing since she was a child, particularly of poems and rhymes, she carried this through to adulthood. It was actually a song which she wrote in her sleep that has led to her greatest professional success thus far! “666 Drop” with DJ Holly-J aired on the Today FM national network and has been played around the world. The release party at Spice Market Melbourne was a roaring success while the video, alongside the remix has achieved over 100k views on YouTube and Facebook.
Shona is actively writing, collaborating and performing internationally. She has a diverse talent that encompasses multiple areas of music and the creative process. She can write, rap and is a talented vocalist. Shona’s persistent commitment to creative growth is evidenced by her continually evolving music library, awareness and fan base.
